Tough going expected for walkers

A record entry of 1,598 are due to start this weekend's Clerical Medical Parish Walk, at the National Sports Centre on Saturday morning.

The winner in 1971, Graham Young, will get the race under way, at 8am.

The weather forecast is not promising, with heavy rain due to set in during the morning, accompanied by strong easterly winds.

Bethany Clague (pictured) is attempting to complete the 85 mile route twice in two days, and has some good advise to help competitors cope with the expected wet conditions:
