All welcome at Filipino celebration

The Island's Filipino community is extending the hand of friendship to the Manx people this weekend, as they celebrate the anniversary of their homeland's Declaration of Independence.

An evening of music, song and dance is in store at the South Douglas Old Friends Association, with everybody welcome to go along.

There will also be a mouth-watering array of authentic Philippine food to try.

The celebration was held for the first time last year and organiser Pin Doherty (pictured) says it cemented some long-lasting ties for her countrymen and women:
