Knight on podium

by isleofman.com 23rd June 2008
David Knight finished third in strange circumstances at round eight of the Grand National Cross Country series at Yadkinville, North Carolina, yesterday.

The Red Bull KTM rider ended up in the lead after accidentally missing a section of the course.

The GNCC crew made Knight rerun that missed section on the next lap, which dropped him back to fourth.

But he fought back to grab a place on the podium, which he was more than happy with.

“Feels like a win after all of that,” said Knight. “I tried making up some time, but in the dust, I had a couple of close calls and I decided to just hang back and score some points.”

The race was won by Josh Strang with Charlie Mullins second.

Knight has gone three rounds without a victory now after winning four of the first five, but still has a 30 point lead at the top of the overall standings.

The next round is the Geico Mountain Ridge in Somerset, Pennsylvania, on July fifth and sixth.
