A potentially important archeological discovery has been made at Ronaldway Airport.
Details are limited at this stage, but Manx Radio understands prehistoric remains have been unearthed during work on the runway extension.
Bones are also thought to have been found on the site.
It's understood the prehistoric remains are some form of structure, between 4,000 and 5,000 years old.
It's not known whether the bones are human, but it is thought to be rare for any to be found at such an ancient site.
Interestingly, a team of twelve archaeologists from the United Kingdom is understood to be working on the site, which suggests the find could be significant.
The site is thought to be within the 'secure area' of the airfield, which means it is strictly out of bounds for members of the public.
The significance of the site is understood to have been established a week ago, and the work is set to continue for several more weeks.
