The Office of Fair Trading can do little to stop airlines charging exorbitant prices when passengers are forced to change flights due to circumstances outside their control.
That honest assessment was delivered by the newly elected chairman of the OFT, Bill Henderson.
He was speaking in the House of Keys after South Douglas MHK Bill Malarkey raised the issue of a family who were forced to pay an additional ?400, on top of their initial flight costs, to switch services after a connecting plane was delayed.
