Probation chance for teenager

by isleofman.com 26th June 2008
A 17-year-old woman who appeared for sentence on two charges of being drunk and disorderly; escaping lawful custody and damaging a window at Topshop, has been place on probation for two years.

Hannah Marie Cowell of Castlemona Avenue, Douglas admitted all the offences committed on April 18th, May 16th and May 17th.

Her advocate, Paul O'Neill, said the defendant was now out of care and attending college and her tutor there presented a report stating that Cowell had a bright future.

Mr O'Neill said she needed support and assistance which probation would give her.

Mr Montgomery said she faced either a bright or bleak future, and it was up to her to choose. She was being given a chance and he strongly advised her to take it.

An order of the probation is that Cowell must attend the drug and alcohol programme as and when required to do so by the probation service.
