Bermuda gets Island Games green-light

by isleofman.com 28th June 2008
Bermuda has been chosen to host the 2013 Island Games.

The International Island Games Association made the unanimous decision as delegates from 23 of the 25 member Islands attended the AGM in the Parliament building in Mariehamn, Aland, on Saturday.

It will be the first time the event will take place on the other side of the Atlantic.
Bermuda were the only bidding island since Prince Edward Island decided to withdraw their bid earlier this year.

IGA Chairman, Jorgen Pettersson, said, although Bermuda did not have any opposition, they will still have to deliver a ‘great games’.

Although the IGA Executive has concerns regarding the cost of living in Bermuda, including travel and accommodation, it’s sure organisers realise the possible impact and will make sure there are several accommodation options.
