DHSS to consider care issues raised

The Whitley Council has told the Department of Health it's unhappy with the closure of three DHSS residential homes for the elderly to long-stay admissions.

At a recent special meeting of the council both sides told departmental representatives they felt the situation could have been handled better, and criticised the lack of consultation over the move.

Secretary for the employees' side Bernard Moffatt (pictured) says the department has been asked to consider the issues raised, which also include whether the change indicates a shift towards private sector care:
