Police prepare for royal visit

Complex security preparations are being finalised for the Princess Royal's visit to the Isle of Man on Tynwald Day next week.

Police here have liaised with the Princess's personal protection officer to ensure the visit to St John's on Monday morning, and later to the new hospice, runs as smoothly as possible.

The President of Tynwald and Lieutenant Governor have also worked closely with officers.

The man in charge of the operation is Chief Inspector Peter Young.

He says Tynwald Day always requires major police planning, but there's an extra challenge this year (audio file attached):
