More on reversal of care homes decision

‘Unforeseen demands’ on the DHSS are being cited as the reason behind the reversal of a controversial decision to stop new admissions to three residential homes for the elderly.

The department last month announced it would close admissions to Glenside and Reayrt-ny-Baie in Douglas and Cummal Mooar in Ramsey and instead expand its home care services.

However, those plans are now on hold.

Health Minister Eddie Teare (pictured) admits the decision has been taken with regret:
