Closures were 'rushed' - Moffatt

Critics of a controversial overhaul in the way the Island looks after its elderly, are welcoming the decision to abandon the plan.

Less than a month after he halted new admissions to three long-stay care homes, Mr Teare has dropped plans to offer more care in the community.

The change of tack is due to unexpected financial demands on the DHSS.

Among the critics was Bernard Moffatt, who represents care home staff on Whitley Council.

He says he was never against the idea, more the way it was rushed through:
