Lifejackets with defects which may lead to serious injury are being recalled by the manufacturer.
The Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading says some Seago 150 and 175 Newton lifejackets are known to be faulty.
James Davis reports (audio file attached):
They're marked with a manufacture date in Roman numerals, for example those made in the last quarter of 2005 have IV/05.
The quarters concerned are the last one of 2005, all four in 2006 and the first one of 2007.
The OFT says if you have one of these stop using it immediately and return it directly to the manufacturer, not the place you bought it from.
Remove the gas cylinder manually from the inflation system and send the jacket only to Seago for testing.
Any faulty ones will be replaced while ones that're ok will be returned to you.
