Probation for Molyneux after assault

by isleofman.com 8th July 2008
TT sidecar legend Dave Molyneux has been given 18 months probation for attacking his wife.

The 44 year-old from Bride admitted assault causing actual bodily harm, following an incident which happened hours after he came second in a TT Sidecar race.

The court heard he had been out drinking, and when he returned to his camper van he verbally abused his wife, grabbed her by the throat and pushed his hand against her face.

The court was told by advocate Nigel Cordwell the incident was driven by stress and not alcohol.

High Bailiff Michael Moyle told Molyneux that domestic violence was an ugly offence, but he needed help rather than punishment.
