Apology over communication breakdown

The operators of the Isle of Man's energy from waste plant, CITA, have brought forward plans to recycle bottom ash into aggregate.

The ash is currently put into a landfill facility at Turkeylands.

Toxic fly ash is shipped to the United Kingdom for landfill as blocks, but it's hoped it can soon be recycled as well.

The details were confirmed by the Chief Minister Tony Brown in Tynwald today, in response to a question from Michael MHK David Cannan.

However, it was also confirmed there were proposals to store the toxic fly ash at Jurby, despite the fact the local MHK, Mr Cannan, and commissioners hadn't been informed.

Mr Brown he didn't know why the information hadn't been passed on, and Environment Minister John Shimmin apologised for the apparent breakdown in communications:
