New type of tourist accommodation

Hotels, guest houses or self catering are the traditional choice for those seeking tourist accomodation in the Isle of Man.

But now the Department of Tourism is adding a new classifaction - Serviced Apartments.

Guests will have the accomodation cleaned and changed during their stay and be able to call on a 24-hour concierge service.

It's a potential concern for traditional providers, already unhappy that Homestay rooms are becoming a first port-of-call among TT visitors.

But Theo Fleurby from the Manx Hospitality Partnership says the Island is only moving with the times:
