DHSS investigates care scheme

by isleofman.com 16th July 2008
The Department of Health and Social Security says a long-term care social insurance scheme would cost the Island more than ?25 million.

In Tynwald yesterday, Health Minister Eddie Teare read a statement to the court about the department’s progress in investigating the issue.

He said the work needed to assess whether it could be introduced meant the DHSS missed its deadline of reporting in July’s sitting.

Mr Teare said potential financial implications meant he couldn’t predict when the investigation would be complete.
