Fire at Waverley Court

by isleofman.com 17th July 2008
Life at the Waverley Court elderly persons' complex is returning to normal today, after fire fighters had to deal with an incident there yesterday evening.

Officers wearing breathing apparatus went into a heavily smoke logged part of the building, and some of the residents were advised to go outside.

It happened after a plastic item was left on a stove top which was inadvertently turned on.

The Fire and Rescue Service is advising everybody to make sure cooker tops are kept free of items which could melt or catch fire.

There were no injuries.

Waverley Court is in York Road, Douglas.
