Police advice to protect oil tanks

Has the sharp rise in the cost of oil led to more of it being stolen from private tanks?

Crime Prevention Officer Mike Radcliffe says there has been a slight increase in reports of thefts over the past twelve months, although people sometimes become confused and think they have used less oil than they really have.

He says thefts do occurr and tanks should be secured, or at least made more difficult to access:
