Jurby prison will help 'rehabilitate'

A prisons expert - and Island resident - feels the new Jurby facility will play a significant role in rehabilitating more offenders here.

Brendan O'Friel has a number of different roles on the Isle of Man but has been speaking in this instance as a former governor of Strangeways in Manchester.

Mr O'Friel says the punishment of prison is the loss of liberty, but that doesn't mean people should be denied the opportunity to better themselves (audio file attached):
