Robin and his wrasse

by isleofman.com 26th July 2008
A ballen wrasse weighing 3lbs secured victory for Bradda house in Castle Rushen High School's recent inter-house fishing competition.

The event, thought by the school to be the first of its kind in the Island, was contested from the outer pier in Port St Mary, with four teams of two fishing for two and a half hours.

The six boys and two girls used a variety of bait, including crabs, lugworms and queenie scraps to lure fish onto their hooks.

Langness house looked to be heading for success, after some excellent catches of callig and coley by Killian Lamont-Gilroy.

But in the closing minutes of the competition Robin Gledhill weighed in with his ballen wrasse (pictured).
