More roadworks - and more diversions - are planned for Douglas as the DoT's Highways Maintenance Programme continues.
Bucks Road will be resurfaced in phases with work due to get under way a week today (Sunday, August 3) and scheduled for completion on Thursday, August 14.
Edward Oldham reports (audio file attached):
The first phase covers Circular Road up to its junction with Christian Road, which'll be closed between 8am and 6pm next Sunday.
Then from Monday 4 to Thursday 7, it'll be closed between 6.30 and ten every evening.
Work on the second phase, from the Christian Road junction to the Rosemount traffic lights, gets under way on Saturday and continues weekday evenings until Thursday, August 14.
Director of Highways Bruce Hannay says the work's being done in two phases to minimise disruption, principally within the weekend and evening periods, with Bucks Road closed to all vehicles at this time.
But he says it'll also be necessary to carry out some of it during the normal working day, although this will be after the morning peak traffic and, where possible, the disruption to drivers will be kept to a minimum.
