Ramsey back on top

by isleofman.com 28th July 2008
Ramsey went back to the top of the Standard Bank Premiership after a great ten wicket win over St John's at the weekend.

Batting first the Saints were dismissed for 65, Ruairi Mooney top scoring with 24.

Ollie Webster recovered from a confidence-destroying first over in which he bowled ten wides to finish with 5-25.

Marc Pons-Burt and Eddie Cleator then batted sensibly to take the northerners to a fine victory.

Cronkbourne won a cliffhanger against Crosby at Marown.

The Tromode side scored 164 with Alex Stokoe hitting 34 and Andy Brown taking 3-44 for the home side.

Their batting challenge was led by Ricky and Danny Kniveton, who hit 59 and 30 respectively.

However, the return of Max Stokoe to the Cronkbourne bowling attack ended Crosby's hopes as they were bowled out for 152; he finished with 4-21 and Neil Holmes took 2-22.

Peel notched their first Premiership win of the season when beat Valkyres by 53 runs.

Russell Miller had a fine match, scoring 54 with the bat then taking three wickets.

Peel finished on 181 and then dismissed Valkyres for 128.
