Legal protection for wildlife

Tough new legislation to protect the Island's wildlife is being hailed as an important landmark for nature conservation here.

Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne says it repeals a lot of ancient laws which are no longer relevant and crucially, the new powers remove the need to prove an act was deliberate

It's now an offence to recklessly kill, take, injure, uproot or destroy certain wildlife in certain situations.
