Government can't stop Jurby closure

The Michael MHK says there is very little the Government can do if a company decides its Manx outlet has to close.

David Cannan was commenting on the demise of the Jurby packaging firm, Bapco with the loss of over a dozen jobs: (audio clip)

DTI Minister David Cretney says the first his Department knew of the situation was during yesterday evening.

He says everything that can be done, will be done, and the Government is well aware of the strain companies are currently under in terms of economic conditions, the reason given by the firm's manager for the closure.
