Judges to examine Douglas this week

Time is running out for residents and businesses in Douglas to mow, trim and clear gutters before Britain in Bloom judges arrive.

A team of inspectors is due here on Wednesday.

They will be surveying the whole town environment, not just the parks and gardens.

Tubs, planters and baskets around the capital are all at their peak, but local people are being urged to beautify their own surroundings

Douglas secured a silver medal in 2007 and hopes to top that in this year's competition.

Leader of the Council David Christian (pictured) says the prestigious award is about rallying civic pride in both private and commercial sectors, and everyone can contribute:
