Oxfam celebrates 20 years

by isleofman.com 6th August 2008
20 years ago today Oxfam threw open its doors for business.

The Strand Street charity shop was opened in 1988 by Sir Laurence New - then Lieutenant Governor of the Island - who returned for the special day.

It has grown vastly in size since its early days.

To celebrate the birthday there was a half price sale on goods and Fairtrade tasters for all customers.

Oxfam is one of the major retailers of Fairtrade goods on our 'Fairtrade Island'- a prestigious title awarded last month to reward on-going fairtrade endeavours.
