Penny Creighton of Age Concern says she is greatly saddened by the personal and unwarranted attacks levelled at her by the Chief Minister and Treasury Minister.
It follows a stark headline in the local newspaper saying she claimed 'people were going to die because of the rising cost of fuel and food'. This in turn sparked a quick response from the Government saying much was being done to help.
Ms Creighton (pictured) who is Chief Executive of Age Concern, says she did not choose the sensational headline.
She was not attacking the Government - with whom she says she has an excellent working relationship.
She was just doing her job as Chief Executive for Age Concern in putting forward the concerns of elderly people and was stating fact.
