Inflation rises again

by isleofman.com 13th August 2008
Concerns about the effect of rising prices on the elderly have been underlined this morning (Monday) by a further rise in inflation.

As measured by the Retail Prices Index, it's gone from 6.3 per cent to 6.5 per cent in July.

The main contributions have been food and energy prices.

In the last year, the cost of fuel and light has risen by 22.8 per cent.

The Treasury says the index for oil and other fuels within the fuel and light category showed a rise of nearly 72 per cent over the past 12 months.

The price of food increased by almost nine per cent.
