Let's help tackle energy costs

Director of Public Health Dr Parameshwan Kishore says he hopes to help the government tackle problems created by rising energy costs.

After a spat between government and Age Concern’s chief executive Penny Creighton over the effect soaring heating bills will have on pensioners, Dr Kishore says it’s important to see it as a public health issue.

He says if the elderly are at risk from illnesses such as hypothermia, it may be possible for his team to help.

But he added statements warning people might die could cause unnecessary alarm (audio file attached):
