Manx farmers battling escalating costs

Manx farmers are struggling to make ends meet as they face spiralling costs.

The President of the Manx National Farmers’ Union Howard Quayle says rising fuel prices are hitting the agricultural industry in the pocket.

He says the cost of commodities such as fertiliser has more than doubled in the past year.

The latest figures from Treasury show the cost of food is rising rapidly, but Mr Quayle says farmers are getting little profit (audio file attached):
