The wet summer is already having an impact on the start of the new Football season.

Saturday's Eric Fletcher Charity Shield match between St. George's and Peel was postponed to Wednesday evening as the playing surface at The Bowl was unfit.

And now news has come through that the two pitches at Nobles Park will be out of action for at least the next two weeks.

Douglas Corporation says repairs to the ground have been delayed because of the inclement weather and the late arrival of the contractor hired to carry out repairs to the ground.

The area is used for corporate hospitality and car aprking over the T.T. period and for other events over the summer months.

The two clubs affected by the current situation are Corinthians and Douglas Royal.

Luckily, Corinthians are without a Sure Mobile Premier League fixture this Saturday, the opening day of the season.

Their opening match the following Saturday is a home encounter against Union Mills which will either have to be switched to another venue or postponed.

In Division Two, Douglas Royal are away to Marown this Saturday but their Combination side are at home. The following week, Royal are scheduled to play the Police at Nobles Park.

Again, these fixtures will either be played on a pitch or postponed.
