Peel Start with Silverware

by isleofman.com 14th August 2008
Peel got their season off to a winning start with a 3-1 victory over Champions St. George's in a heated Eric Fletcher Charity Shield match at The Bowl last night.

The westerners led 1-0 at half-time thanks to a Kevin Megson penalty.

The advantage was increased after the interval by Neil Birchenough before substitute Brian Gartland put St. George's back in the contest with a spectacular strike.

Peel secured the silverware when Lee Gale hit the third.

After a fully commited game refereed by Peter Beighton, Peel Manager Rick Holden said the match got bad tempered at times because of the attitude of both players and officials:-
