MT industrial action decided

by isleofman.com 14th August 2008
Manx Telecom workers are expected to tell the company today what they intend to do about an under-inflation pay offer.

They met last night with Communications Workers’ Union negotiator Grace Mitchell to discuss their next step in they pay award row.

The company offered a rise of 4.1 per cent earlier this year, but the current rate of inflation on the Island stands at 6.5 per cent.

The CWU says a ballot of members at MT showed more than 80 per cent were in favour of action – which could range from a work to rule up to a strike.

A legal requirement of any walkout would be the union giving Manx Telecom seven days written notice.
