Free transport for carers

A joint initiative between The Departments of Health and Social Security and Tourism and Leisure will entitle carers to the same benefits as the people they are looking after.

Free bus travel could be a real bonus - and it will encourage disabled people to travel and be a greater part of their local communities.

The Department of Health is currently looking into different ways to support disabled people to achieve greater independence.

Alan Desmond, chairman of Autism in Mann outlined the need for the initiative:
