MT staff determined and disappointed

The Communications Workers’ Union says Manx Telecom staff are determined to hammer out a better pay deal – but are saddened the situation has escalated into strike action.

On Friday next week, workers will walk out in a dispute over a 4.1 per cent pay offer which is significantly below the current rate of inflation.

The one-day strike will coincide with an overtime ban at the company.

CWU Lead Negotiator Grace Mitchell describes the mood of the union’s members (audio file attached):
