Carers welcome travel initiative

Carers in the Island say a new initiative to give them free and reduced price travel on buses is a step in the right direction.

It was hoped free passes for young disabled people on the Island would help them get more involved in the community.

But many - unable to travel alone - have not reaped the benefits.

Now it's hoped the passes for carers will offer the extra support disabled people need to get out and about.

The issue was raised at the recent DHSS public forums.
