Islanders in debt

by isleofman.com 20th August 2008
The Isle of Man is one of the most indebted places in the British Isles, according to a new survey.

Carried out by Credit Company ClearDebt, it shows locals owe an average of ?36,000 – only people in London and Salisbury have higher debts.

However, Pauline Wood of the Office of Fair Trade’s debt advice service, says those figures are higher than the OFT’s estimates (audio file attached):

For advice and debt counselling, you can visit the OFT's website at gov.im/oft or call 686510.
