Thousands stop Work to Watch Cav Disappointment

by isleofman.com 20th August 2008
Not much work took place in the Isle of Man for an hour or so this morning as television sets were watched avidly

However, there was disappointment for Manx cycling superstar Mark Cavendish and double gold medalist Bradley Wiggins in the Olympic Madison race in Beijing.

The World Champions finished in nineth place as Argentina took gold.

Many venues around the island opened their doors early to allow fans to view the cycling.

Team Isle of Man Cycling coach Mike Doyle joined regulars at the Shore Hotel in Cav's home village of Laxey.

He says Cavendish has already achieved more in 18 months as a professional than many do in a career....and more opportunities will come along:-
