RAF Nimrod - 'accident waiting to happen'

An accident waiting to happen.

That’s the Celtic League’s stance as RAF Nimrod aircraft continues to use Ronaldsway for training purposes.

One of the controversial aircraft was spotted using the airport again last Friday – just two months after a coroner ruled every aircraft in the fleet should be grounded until safe to fly.

It followed the deaths of 14 servicemen when a Nimrod reconnaissance plane exploded in mid-air in Afghanistan.

Only recently the Ministry of Defence admitted the flaw which caused the crash is endemic to the Nimrod fleet and the League’s director of information, Bernard Moffatt, is warning the Manx government of safety concerns (audio file attached):
