Motherwell man killed in collision

Police have named the 43 year-old man killed in a collision on the main Douglas to Peel road yesterday (Thursday).

Matthew Rea, from Motherwell in Scotland, was visiting the Island to watch the Manx Grand Prix.

Police are continuing their inquiries into the incident and appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of the A1 Douglas to Peel Road at around 10 o’clock on Thursday morning.

The incident involved a dark coloured Suzuki Vitara motor car and a red Aprillia motor cycle.

If you saw either of these vehicles immediately prior to the incident or viewed the incident itself, you’re asked to contact Police Headquarters at Douglas on 631212 or speak to any police officer.
