Thousands get the movie habit

by isleofman.com 26th August 2008
Late night screenings is one of the reasons there has been a big boost to the numbers going through the turnstiles at the Palace Cinema.

Two blockbuster movies have helped. They are Mamma Mia and The Dark Knight, the latest Batman film.

It's estimated an eighth of the Isle of Man’s population has passed through its doors to watch the two films.

One of the main reasons for the record figures is the three film viewings a day which includes a late-night screening.

Demand for Mamma Mia is likely to increase again in September, when a ‘sing along’ version complete with song subtitles, is introduced to the Palace Cinema, allowing the audience to participate in the film.
