First use of prison video link

by isleofman.com 27th August 2008
History has been made in Manx courts as the first defendant has appeared by video link.

37-year old John Snape from Onchan is accused of attempted robbery.

Instead of being in court in person, his image appeared on a big screen.

He was remanded in custody until September 23rd by the Deputy High Bailiff.

Defendants aren't obliged to appear by video link, but now the new Prison is up and running in Jurby they now have the choice if they wish to do so.
