Drifting yacht rescued

by isleofman.com 28th August 2008
A yacht drifting towards the Island after a rope jammed its propeller and rudder has had to be rescued by the RNLI.

The 37ft sailing yacht Odyssey, which is berthed at Conway, was taken back to port after being rescued by a Llandudno lifeboat crew.

Without engine power and steering, the vessel had started to be tossed about in heavy swells.

It took the lifeboat 2? hours to reach the yacht, which had a man and woman on board.

The Coastguard had alerted several nearby vessels of the potential danger and the fast craft Viking called the yacht to check the crew were safe.
