Electricity goes up today

by isleofman.com 1st September 2008
Homes and businesses around the Island face a rise in the cost of electricity of more than 16% from today (Sept 1st).

The 16.32% hike in tariffs, announced last month, will add around ?67 to the average household bill.

It's another blow for consumers, who were hit by a 22% rise in gas prices from the 1st of August.

Rising world energy costs are being blamed - but part of the rise is a result of the MEA's unauthorised loans affair. Tynwald approved staged tariff increases in a rescue package agreed in 2005.
