'Pension plan would ruin Manx NHS' - BMA

Is the NHS in the Isle of Man facing problems?

The Medical Society claims changes to the NHS pension scheme could cause healthcare staff to 'leave the Island in droves' and put off potential staff from coming over.

A team of consultants’ proposals are due to go before Tynwald at the end of the year and raising the retirement age from 60 to 65 and breaking the link with the UK scheme are among the Society's concerns.

Consultant gynaecologist Bob Fayle, chairman of the Society’s medical executive, wants government reassurances and says the warning isn’t a scare tactic:
