Calling all firefighters on the Island!
If you've ever worked at Blackburn fire station there will be chance later this year to meet up with old friends and say goodbye to the old building there.
A reunion is being organised for former Blackburn firefighters and their families ahead of the pending demolition of the old station which will be decommissioned as soon as its modern replacement is complete.
Organiser Linda Parker, whose father was a firefighter in Blackburn 50 years ago, says a lot of firemen from the town went on to work on the Island then retired here, and she would like as many of them as possible to get in touch:
The reunion will be held in Blackburn fire station and on Friday November 28th. If you're interested in going along, the numbers to ring are 01254 705950 (Linda Parker nee Hogg) or Mrs Vose on 01254 202 003.
