MGP rider died 'doing something he loved'

by isleofman.com 4th September 2008
An inquest into the death of a well known competitor in this year's Manx Grand Prix has been opened and adjourned.

John Goodall, a 67 year-old engineer from Pembrokeshire in Wales, died when he lost control of his Matchless G50 at Ballacraine in the Classic Senior race.

At the hearing today, Coroner of Inquests Alistair Montgomerie said further investigations would be necessary before a full inquest could take place.

He said the cause of death was the massive blunt force chest trauma suffered by Mr Goodall in the crash on Monday, August 25.

He added that he died 'doing something he loved'.

A date for the full Inquest will be set in due course.
