Lotto scam

by isleofman.com 7th September 2008
Households on the Island are being warned to be aware of another apparent postal 'lotto' scam arriving through local letterboxes.

Manx Radio has heard from listeners who have received post from Spain with the title 'Loteria Primitiva'.

It claims the recipient has a valid award claim in the final draw of a massive European lotto and could have won millions of pounds and asks for bank details to be sent for it to be processed.

As with so many of these scams, if it's too good to be true it usually is and bank details should never be sent in such circumstances.

The advice, as usual, is to bin such letters or, if worried, to report them to authorities such as the Office of Fair Trading.
