Pension agreements back in spotlight

Pension agreements freely entered into by workers and employers should be honoured in one form or another, so says MHK David Cretney.

A review of public service pensions is to be debated in Tynwald later this year with existing scheme members concerned about a possible increase in pension age and a decrease in benefits.

However, while Chief Minister Tony Brown has indicated the aim is to unify the 19 different government pension schemes, he’s repeated assurances no final decisions have been taken and there’ll be full consultation before any changes are introduced.
