Manx golds at Euros

by isleofman.com 9th September 2008
Two Manx cyclists have grabbed golds at the European Track Championships in Poland.

Mark Christian (pictured) and GB team mate Luke Rowe won the junior Madison, finishing two points ahead of the Danish duo.

It means the Douglas teenager has won a medal of every colour at the meet; gold in the Madison, silver in the team pursuit and bronze in the individual pursuit.

And Peter Kennaugh grabbed top honours in the under-23 team pursuit alongside Steven Burke, Andy Tennant and Mark McNally, comfortably beating a powerful Russian team in the final.

Meanwhile Jonny Bellis (CSC Saxo) finished in a solid 10th place on stage one of the Tour of Britain yesterday.

And Andrew Roche (Pinarello) came home in 34th.
